Now as a Professor of Art Department of National Taiwan University of Arts
Dean E-Mei is one of the political artists, who always focuses on the issues such as national identity, Taiwanese history, cultural hybridity, and the political situations between China and Taiwan. Dean E-Mei’ uses a lot of symbols and metaphors in his works to present his critical perspectives. And his political works are ironic, when irony means reflexivity, identity issues in Mei’s works not only query what the people’s identity is, but also question what the identity means. And such reflective conditions are just like the national allegory of Taiwan.
