Artist Statement

My works are presented as day dreams with clear consciousness, with eyes opened, I see unusual images and view space around me just like how I always view the world. Space in these images is familiar yet unique, The space seems to come from experiences yet disconnect from the real world. It is like sliding from here to the unknown. Nonetheless, images not sliding into a none-existed or disappeared reality. Image, itself, an experience and reality. Hence, images change the familiar and aged relationship. Images create new possibilities that restructure the sensational experience and create the sliding effect. The force, direction and process of such sliding are the key concept of my works.

The appearance of image often comes from intuition and instinct. It travels through the gap of consciousness but strategically keeps distance from the consciousness, One only experiences the hums of energy when images accidentally fall through the gap, People resonate between consciousness and unconsciousness. I am addicted by this aimless seeking. It reflects the reality of life. Upon the saturation point after accumulating diversified sensational experiences, the energy emerges and tickles the inspiration and heart. The tickling directs to absented consciousness. How to get to the absented consciousness? Body is the bridge, M. Merleau-Ponty once pointed out “ Human beings sense through body”. The fundamental of sensation is time and space. In day dreaming with clear consciousness, consciousness is paralyzed instantly. Human sensation is disconnected from conventional control. The disconnection makes spirit and soul to break out from the hidden desire at the dark.

Hence, non-linearly manipulating time and space through images, daily logic and significance of reality loses its importance. Images operate in another logic and reality. Significance of image is floating.
