[T] art

[T] Art series is a collective project by members of ETAT Lab. This series of works embodies a contemporary concept of space and time, in which distance has been annihilated by the absolute speed of digital technology. These works are housed in a huge tube, in which the artists have created an environment of interactive sounds and images presenting their different themes. The form of the tube is generic and was built with the idea that it could be altered or reproduced. The tube could be extended further, or broken up into pieces; or it could be reproduced, playing the same videos in different places simultaneously. It is a digital capsule that could be multiplied into many different contexts.

TUNNEL
The tube is a conduit, not a container. It only serves to conduct energy. The energy flows through without resistance. The tube remains empty.

TRANSPARENT/TERMINAL
Distance is a pure transparency: space has been rewritten by digital technology, which makes everything happen in real time. Every place is a starting point/ending point. All places are integrated, terminals of a single system.

TOUCH
"Touch" is the dawn of sense awareness. Nothing occupies the mind but the joy of perception.

TRANSMISSION
The atmosphere is suffused with information, visible and invisible. Everyone is sending and receiving transmissions. Everyone is everywhere connected.

The Introduction of "Middle in the Endless"

The tube is made of plexiglass with an aluminum framework, and stands 20 meters long, with a diameter of 260 centimeters. It houses an interactive sound/image system. At the far end of the tube there is a screen, and at the other end there is a mirror.

Inside the tube there is a restless atmosphere of flashing images and sound bites. When the viewer steps in, the program is given new input. If the viewer moves, the system will read that and respond in real time. Subject and work are in a reciprocal relationship: stimulus and response.

The tube is not a passage connecting 'here' and 'there.' The viewer steps in and stands before a screen, situated at the far end of the tube. The computerized graphics on the screen depict an endless tunnel. Behind the viewer, a mirror reflects these images. There is no entrance or exit. The viewer stands in the middle of an infinite distance.

Space-Speed
These pieces present a digital environment of absolute speed, in which time and the three dimensions of space collapse. In this state we lose our power to interpret and our senses carry on without us. Continuity with a past-the subject structured by memory, history, and convention-is dead. Human memory is overwhelmed. Time falls silent and we are drawn into void. There is a moment of zero degree. The present moment washes over the body without ceasing.

Flux-Body
This new experience pierces the fabric of social cognition. People can only flatly register what they are undergoing. We are suspended between terror and delight. There is no analogy for it. Language is left behind. Our nerves tell.

Action-Feedback
Digital signals irradiate/saturate the atmosphere: cascading over the viewer, penetrating consciousness/body.----The viewer moves, impelled; the system registers the movement and responds. There is no purpose. The images respond to being watched. Subject and work are in a reciprocal relationship: stimulus and response.
