In my recent work, I’ve often experimented with images by decomposing and then recomposing them, as an attempt to explore the many spacial-temporal correlations found within them. I have applied the same process to everyday objects by dislocating and juxtaposing them, thus constructing new relationships and metaphors.
The main series in this exhibition explores the unfathomable relationship between time and space. When taking road trips, I love looking out the car window to watch the trees become blurs of color, the flowers disappear and houses shrink into distant memories. That moment when, in the smallest twinkling of the eye, the landscape speeds away before me seems magical…In just a split second, a million moments have come and gone. I can’t resist taking out the camera to capture them one at a time. The resulting snapshots, though beautiful, don't really reflect the fleeting moment; they just reveal a linear aspect of it. However, time cannot be captured, as it is relative and inseparable from space.
