Esther Lu was born in Taipei, 1977/12/20. Lu started her practices in art after receiving her B.A. in English Literature from Fu-Jen University and M.A. in the 20th Century History of Arts from Goldsmiths College. Lu’s dynamic interests drive her into experimental writing as well as critical responses to cultural production in diverse forms. Derived from her curatorial practice, a firm concern on the interplay between the social-political establishment and the artistic/cultural reproduction is shaped and forwarded in her recent engagement in developing alternative models for art display/communication and experimenting variations for curatorial research and practice. Lu is the curator of sound performance Sound Intestines for Stockholm, Treasure Hill Tea + Photo Reading Series and Digital Visions online exhibition, co-curator of The Lake: Towards a Cross-Cultural Dialogue project, assistant curator to 2004 Taipei Biennial and 2006 Shanghai Biennial. From 2006 to 2007, Lu travels among Taipei, Stockholm, Berlin, Istanbul and Paris as the Konstfack CuratorLab residency program participant with her curatorial exercise project Turntable Series. Lu is launching a curator collective Good Gangsters with Adnan Yildiz in 2007.
