Eric Chi-Puo LIN was born in 1970 in Tainan County, Taiwan. He graduated in 1992 from Soochow University with a bachelor's degree in political science, followed by a Soochow University Master's degree in political science in 1995.
Both a literary writer and a journalist, He paints a picture by taking three different threads—"literary creation," "trend observations," and "news reporting"—and weaving them into a cohesive image.
He has worked as Deputy Editor-in-Chief at Business Today magazine, Chief Editorial Writer at Common Wealth Magazine Group, Acting Editor-in-Chief at Taiwan Panorama magazine, News Director at Global Views Monthly, Reporter for the United Daily News, Special correspondent for GQ magazine, Columnist for Mingdao Literature & Arts magazine, Columnist for ViVi magazine, Columnist for Taiwan Times, and Art Director at Queen Stone Jewelry.
Awards
Literary awards he has won include Youth Literary magazine's Shan Shui Prize for Nature Literature (1997), the Nanying Literary Prize for Prose (2001 and 2002), and the Nanying Art Award for Literary Prose (2003).
Prizes for journalism include the Cross Strait Relations and Mainland News Reporting Awards (2003, 2004, 2009, and awards in two categories in 2010), the Asian Publishing Award in the category of Feature Reporting (2010), and the Hsing Yun Journalism Award (2013), which is often called "the Pulitzer Prize of the Mandarin-speaking world."
Other honor includes Honorary Cross Strait Relations and Mainland News Reporting Award (2012).
